SK Planet Taps Moca Network for Blockchain ID Rollout to 29 Million Users
South Korea’s Largest Rewards Program Enters Web3
Moca Network, a decentralized identity project by Animoca Brands, is partnering with South Korean tech giant SK Planet to launch AIR Shop, a new verifiable loyalty platform. The collaboration will integrate Moca Network’s enterprise-grade identity infrastructure into OK Cashbag, South Korea’s largest rewards service.
Developed with Spree Finance, AIR Shop is designed to transform traditional loyalty programs by converting reward points into transparent and interoperable Web3 assets. The integration will bring Moca’s flagship digital identity protocol, AIR Identity, to OK Cashbag’s 29 million users and 95,000 merchants.
The system is secured with zero-knowledge proof technology, which ensures that user data remains private and under their control while allowing for high interoperability between different platforms.
Kyosu Kim, chief business officer of SK Planet, stated that the partnership allows the company to expand its ecosystem into Web3 while offering its user base greater value and new experiences. Through the platform, users can earn rewards worth up to 31% of their spending, which are issued as AIR SP, a stablecoin-backed loyalty point.
A New Model for Verifiable Loyalty
Kenneth Shek, project lead at Moca Network, described AIR Shop as the start of a new era for verifiable loyalty. He explained that this model rewards users with precision, prevents system abuse, and gives people true ownership of their data. Unlike traditional programs where points are siloed within a single ecosystem, verifiable credentials allow users to carry their loyalty status across multiple platforms and merchants.
This turns previously locked-in points into versatile, on-chain assets. Shek also highlighted the advantage of using stablecoin-backed rewards, noting that their value doesn’t fluctuate or expire like traditional loyalty points, giving users more confidence in the value they’ve earned.
Driven by Privacy and New Industry Standards
The timing for AIR Shop’s launch is influenced by two key trends. First is the growing adoption of decentralized identifiers and verifiable credentials as authentication standards across governments and major companies. Second is the shift in consumer expectations regarding data privacy.
“People are now much more hesitant to share personal data with centralized platforms unless they see clear benefits or have control over their information,” Shek said. He added that verifiable identity solutions address this concern by allowing users to prove who they are without exposing sensitive personal details, aligning with a modern, privacy-first mindset.
Why Players Are Looking Abroad
As domestic gambling restrictions tighten, a growing number of players are exploring international online casinos. These platforms often present compelling advantages, including faster payment processing, more attractive bonuses, and a wider selection of games. While these benefits are understandably appealing, the decision of where to play should be guided by trust and security, not just promotional offers.
Essential Checks for Vetting Foreign Platforms
Choosing a reliable international casino requires careful due diligence. Before committing, it’s crucial to verify several key factors to ensure a safe and fair experience. Players should always confirm the platform holds a valid license from a reputable gaming authority and offers clear terms with fair withdrawal policies. Consulting independent reviews from credible sources provides an unbiased perspective, while the availability of familiar and secure payment methods is a non-negotiable sign of a trustworthy operator.
Responsible Gaming in a Global Marketplace
Gambling internationally comes with a greater degree of personal responsibility. With varying rules across different jurisdictions and less local oversight, players must take proactive control of their safety. This begins with ensuring any chosen casino uses robust data encryption and partners with reputable payment providers. It also demands a heightened sense of self-awareness. Without local regulatory frameworks, players become their own regulators, making it essential to set spending limits, track play time, and remain alert to potentially problematic habits.
The Evolving Dutch Gambling Landscape
The Dutch gambling market is expected to remain tightly regulated, a reality that encourages players to become more knowledgeable and selective. Exploring international options can offer more freedom, but it must be balanced with a commitment to responsible play. Ultimately, transparency is the key to navigating the changing environment. By prioritizing research, understanding the rules, and putting safety first, players can continue to enjoy online gaming. In this evolving industry, knowledge has become the most valuable currency for ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience.
