TRM Labs and Singapore’s Cyber Security Agency to Combat Crypto Crime with AI
TRM Labs, a blockchain analytics firm, has announced a partnership with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) to enhance the nation’s defenses against digital threats. The collaboration will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to bolster threat intelligence within the cryptocurrency space.
Under the agreement, TRM Labs will provide the CSA with access to its blockchain intelligence platform, which includes advanced AI features. The two organizations will work together to develop new solutions specifically designed to meet Singapore’s long-term security needs.
A Focus on AI-Powered Ransomware Tracking
A key objective of the partnership is the joint development of a blockchain tracing tool. This solution will use agentic AI to more accurately monitor Singapore’s national exposure to ransomware attacks. By creating stronger links between on-chain crypto transactions and off-chain criminal activity, the initiative aims to improve the agency’s ability to disrupt ransomware operations.
The collaboration comes as cybercrime increasingly intersects with digital assets. TRM Labs’ 2025 Crypto Crime Report noted a significant rise in illicit fund flows, with volumes to illicit crypto addresses growing from $37.4 billion in 2021 to $44.7 billion in 2024. Similarly, the CSA’s recent Singapore Cyber Landscape report highlighted the need for institutions to monitor illicit activity in decentralized systems as a core part of national cyber defense.
Strengthening National Cyber Defenses
Esteban Castaño, Co-founder and CEO of TRM Labs, described the agreement as a pivotal step in applying cutting-edge AI to cyber defense. “By combining our industry-leading cross-chain analytics and AI-driven blockchain intelligence with Singapore’s cybersecurity expertise, we are helping shape the next frontier of digital trust and resilience,” he stated.
Edward Chen, Deputy Chief Executive of the CSA, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of building AI capabilities as threats evolve. “Through these partnerships, which includes the adoption of Agentic AI threat analysis to accelerate threat detection, it will strengthen our incident response against cyber threats,” Chen said.
The joint effort will fuse the CSA’s operational insights with TRM’s technology to create scalable, data-driven tools for investigations, threat hunting, and real-time risk mitigation, supporting Singapore’s broader goals for digital trust and innovation.
